Thrice is an American rock band formed in 1998 in Irvine, California, by high school friends Dustin Kensrue (guitar/vocals), Teppei Teranishi (guitar), Eddie Breckenridge (bass), and Riley Breckenridge (drums). The band began with a punk rock and metal-influenced sound, releasing the EP First Impressions (1999) and debut album Identity Crisis (2000), followed by The Illusion of Safety (2002) on Hopeless Records. Thrice signed with Island Records in 2003, releasing The Artist in the Ambulance, which reached number 16 on the Billboard 200, and later Vheissu (2006), peaking at number 15. After a 2012 hiatus, they reunited in 2015, issuing albums including To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere (2016), Palms (2018), and Horizons/East (2021). Their style evolved from post-hardcore to incorporate progressive, electronic, and ambient elements. Each album donates proceeds to charities. Thrice maintains an active touring schedule, known for high-energy performances supporting their extensive discography.
