Toadies are an American rock band formed in 1989 in Fort Worth, Texas. The band emerged from the local music scene with a sound combining alternative rock influences from bands like Pixies and Talking Heads with classic rock and country elements. Their 1994 debut album Rubberneck achieved significant commercial success, driven largely by extensive touring rather than major label promotion. The album's lead single "Possum Kingdom" became their signature song and received substantial radio play in 1995. The band disbanded in 2001 but reunited in 2006, subsequently releasing the album No Deliverance in 2008. Known for their energetic live performances, Toadies toured extensively throughout the 1990s, opening for acts including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bush, and White Zombie, while also headlining their own shows.
