Tokyo Tea Room is a psychedelic pop band formed in 2014 in Canterbury, Kent, England. The group originated as a recording project by guitarist Daniel Elliott and expanded to include vocalist Beth Plumb, bassist Ben Marshall, drummer Sam Teather, and guitarist Ryan Debling, with synth player Graham Nunn joining later. The band's sound combines fuzzy guitar tones, melodic bass lines, and dreamy synths to create what has been described as psychedelic indie pop. Since their formation, Tokyo Tea Room has performed at UK festivals and shared bills with established acts including Wolf Alice, The Mystery Jets, and Super Furry Animals. The band released their debut EP 'Key Philosophy' and later the EP 'Dream Room'. In 2019, they signed to A Certain Kind Records and released singles including 'Forever Out of Time,' 'Always Tomorrow,' and 'Things Are Changing,' which received support from BBC Introducing, BBC 6Music, and other music platforms. The band has been noted as part of Canterbury's contemporary music scene, which has historical roots in the progressive rock movement.
