Tomahawk is an American experimental rock band formed in 1999 by vocalist Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle) and guitarist Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard), who began collaborating after meeting at a concert. They recruited drummer John Stanier (Helmet) and bassist Kevin Rutmanis (Melvins), releasing their self-titled debut album in 2001, followed by Mit Gas (2003) and Anonymous (2007) before a hiatus. The band reformed in 2013 with Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle, Fantômas) on bass, issuing Oddfellows (2013) and Tono (2022). Their music blends experimental rock, avant-prog metal, and diverse influences, including Native American music on Anonymous, characterized by Patton's versatile vocals and Denison's angular guitar riffs. Tomahawk toured extensively from 2000 to 2007 and resumed activity post-reformation.
