Trapt is an American rock band formed in Los Gatos, California, in 1995 by members who met in middle school. Initially a NOFX cover band, they evolved into an original act with Chris Taylor Brown on vocals, Simon Ormandy on guitar, Pete Charell on bass, and David Stege on drums, releasing independent recordings Amalgamation (1999) and the Glimpse EP (2000). After lineup changes, including drummer Aaron Montgomery, they signed with Warner Bros. Records and issued their self-titled debut album in 2002, featuring the hit single 'Headstrong,' which reached #1 on alternative charts and #16 on the pop chart, earning platinum certification. The band's style blends alternative rock, post-grunge, and heavy guitars with angsty lyrics. Follow-up albums include Someone in Control (2005), Only Through the Pain (2008), No Apologies (2011), Reborn (2013), and DNA (2016). Trapt remains active, with current members Chris Taylor Brown, Pete Charell, and others. They are known for high-energy live performances that engage crowds, as demonstrated in early tours opening for acts like Papa Roach and co-headlining with Shinedown.
