Vince Staples is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter from Long Beach, California, who grew up in the Ramona Park area of North Long Beach. He emerged in the early 2010s as part of the local rap scene and is known for concise writing, deadpan delivery, and lyrics that focus on everyday life, violence, and social observation. His debut studio album, Summertime '06 (2015), established him as a major voice in hip-hop, followed by Big Fish Theory (2017), FM! (2018), Vince Staples (2021), and Ramona Park Broke My Heart (2022). Staples is also known for his live performances, which typically feature a controlled stage presence and a focus on tightly performed vocals rather than elaborate showmanship.
