Wage War formed in 2010 in Ocala, Florida, initially as Empires with members Briton Bond on unclean vocals, Cody Quistad on rhythm guitar and clean vocals, Seth Blake on lead guitar, Jordan Pierce on bass, and David Rau on drums. The band renamed to Wage War, replacing Pierce with Chris Gaylord and Rau with Stephen Kluesener. They signed to Fearless Records in 2015 and released their debut album Blueprints that year, followed by Deadweight in 2017, Pressure in 2019, Manic in 2021, and Stigma in 2023. The band produces metalcore characterized by heavy riffs, low tunings, breakdowns, melodic elements, and dual vocal styles blending unclean screams and clean singing. Tracks like 'Alive' and 'The River' from Blueprints have exceeded 12 million and 8 million Spotify streams, respectively. Wage War evolved their sound across albums, incorporating industrial influences in Pressure and broader experimentation in later releases.
