Weezer is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, on February 14, 1992, by Rivers Cuomo (lead vocals, guitar), Patrick Wilson (drums), Matt Sharp (bass), and Jason Cropper (guitar). Brian Bell replaced Cropper during recording of their debut album, and Scott Shriner joined on bass in 2001, forming the current lineup. Their self-titled debut, known as the Blue Album and produced by Ric Ocasek, was released in 1994, featuring singles 'Undone – The Sweater Song,' 'Buddy Holly,' and 'Say It Ain't So.' It achieved triple platinum status in the US. The band has released multiple self-titled albums, including the Green Album (2001) with hits 'Hash Pipe' and 'Island in the Sun,' and the Red Album (2008), whose 'Pork and Beans' video won a Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video. Weezer has sold over 35 million albums worldwide. They blend power pop, alternative rock, and nerdy, nostalgic lyrics, often shifting styles across releases. Live, they are known for high-energy performances supporting their catalog from club shows to arena tours.
