Widowspeak formed in New York City around 2010, emerging from the local music scene with venues like Glasslands and Death By Audio. The core duo of singer Molly Hamilton and guitarist Robert Earl Thomas, originally joined by drummer Michael Stasiak, released their debut album in 2011 on Captured Tracks, blending dream pop, country twang, indie pop jangle, 90s dream pop, 60s psych rock, and Pacific Northwest influences. The band has maintained a consistent catalog over sixteen years, including notable releases like Almanac (2013), Plum (2018), and The Jacket (2022). They marked their 10-year anniversary in 2020 with a livestream show featuring Stasiak. Widowspeak's sound features Hamilton's languid voice paired with Thomas's visceral guitar work. Known for extensive touring across North America and Europe, as well as international gigs in São Paulo and Guadalajara, the band delivers live performances rooted in their road-tested rapport.
