Wild Child formed in 2010 in Austin, Texas, when core members Kelsey Wilson (violin, vocals) and Alexander Beggins (ukulele, vocals) met as backup musicians for a Danish artist's U.S. tour and released their debut album, Pillow Talk, in 2011. The band expanded into a larger ensemble featuring instruments like cello, keyboards, trombone, and drums, blending indie folk and pop elements with unpredictable instrumentation including ukulele, banjo, and violin. They followed with The Runaround (2013), which included the viral track 'Crazy Bird' leading to TV appearances on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and CBS This Morning: Saturday; Fools (2015); Expectations (2018); and End of the World (2023) on their own Reba's Ranch Records. Wild Child earned recognition as best indie and folk band at SXSW in 2013. The group built a following through high-energy live performances, often involving up to 10 members on stage, though recent tours featured a stripped-down trio.
