Willowake is a three-piece band formed in the South Bay area outside Los Angeles, California, consisting of JR Polanco on vocals and guitar, Gavin Alvarado on bass, and Dax Corcoran on drums. The group, associated with El Camino College students, blends 90s alternative rock with new wave and modern indie-punk elements, featuring driving bass lines, punchy rhythm guitars, and dynamic drum fills. In 2024, Willowake signed with Wiretap Records and released their debut EP, An Alter Ego, which includes singles such as “Dog,” “Bitterfaced,” “Playground,” and “I See Ghosts.” The EP, co-produced by Steve Ornest and Jakob Armstrong, showcases fast-paced garage punk alongside mid-tempo tracks like “Not Romantic.” The band rehearses in a San Pedro garage and focuses on tightening their set and developing new material.
