Matthew Raymond Hauri, known as Yung Gravy, was born in Rochester, Minnesota, in 1996. He began rapping while studying marketing at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, uploading tracks to SoundCloud in 2016 after quitting his job. His debut single 'Karen' gained early attention, followed by the EP Mr. Clean in 2017, featuring the viral track 'Mr. Clean' with doo-wop samples over trap beats. That year, '1 Thot 2 Thot Red Thot Blue Thot' also achieved RIAA platinum certification. Yung Gravy signed with Republic Records, releasing the Snow Cougar EP and debut album Sensational in 2019. His discography includes four albums, seven EPs, and one mixtape, with collaborations alongside Lil Baby, bbno$, Juicy J, T-Pain, and Martha Stewart. The 2022 single 'Betty (Get Money)' reached number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned platinum status. His style blends hip-hop with retro samples from 1950s pop, doo-wop, and soul. He performs high-energy live shows, selling out venues early in his career and building a dedicated fanbase known as the 'Gravy Train.'
