Beyond Wonderland is Insomniac's springtime rabbit-hole that launched in 2010. An Alice in Wonderland themed festival whose current flagship home is the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino. Beyond Wonderland is not a single genre festival. Expect to find EDM across house, techno, trance, bass, hard dance, drum & bass, and adjacent styles, wrapped in a surreal storybook world of costumed performers, theatrical production, installations, and multiple large stages. As described by Insomniac, the core theme is a psychedelic continuation of Alice's Wonderland. Heavy emphasis on the Queen and Mad Hatter. As with all Insomniac events, Beyond is a blend of rave, carnival, and theme park. Visually stunning, which only adds to the immersive musical experience. Beyond Wonderland is more about exploration than traditional concert going. That's not to say that the artists are not the main attraction. Over its history, Beyond Wonderland has featured internationally recognized electronic artists including Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Avicii, Tiësto, deadmau5, Kaskade, Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, DJ Snake, Zedd, The Chainsmokers, Porter Robinson, Zeds Dead, REZZ, Seven Lions, and Paul van Dyk: to name a few. The immersion, or maybe assimilation, becomes whole when you participate through dressing up. Becoming part of Alice's story by becoming part of the imagery. Crowd culture is warm, cooperative, and very expressive. Very often people attend in coordinated group outfits. PLUR is an essential concept. Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect are foundational ideals. Making new friends is almost guaranteed, and the memories made become core.
