Nocturnal Wonderland is where Southern California's dance-music story starts. Insomniac launched it in 1995, making it the longest-running electronic festival in North America, the event that grew a warehouse scene into the festival culture the region is now known for. Each September it takes over Glen Helen in San Bernardino, turning the amphitheater and its surrounding grounds into an after-dark fantasy world of towering stages, art installations, and roaming performers. The lineup spans the full spectrum of the genre, house and techno, bass and dubstep, trance and beyond. For a certain kind of SoCal music fan, Nocturnal isn't just a festival; it's the origin point, and returning each fall is a rite of passage.
