Joan B. Kroc Theatre is a flexible performing arts venue inside the Salvation Army’s Kroc Center in San Diego’s Rolando area, a neighborhood on the eastern side of the city with a community-oriented, suburban feel. The theatre is built for live performance and special events, with seating for about 540 to 546 guests, making it a mid-size room that feels more intimate than a conventional concert hall. The venue is best known for theatre productions, dance showcases, community performances, and youth arts programming, including home productions by Kroc Junior Theatre. Its stage infrastructure is unusually robust for the size, with a large stage, optional orchestra pit, fly space, dressing rooms, green room, and adjacent meeting spaces. That combination gives it the adaptability of a true arts center rather than a simple recital hall, and its setting within the larger Kroc Center complex adds convenient parking and a civic, family-friendly atmosphere.
