Nestled in the vibrant Highland Park neighborhood, Lodge Room transforms a 1923 Masonic Temple into an intimate 500-capacity music venue, preserving its original cherry wood paneling, Egyptian-themed murals, and 16-foot ceilings for an otherworldly atmosphere. Reopened in 2017, this historic space blends ornate architecture with a state-of-the-art stage and sound system, hosting eclectic live performances from jazz legends like Roy Ayers to indie acts such as Khruangbin, Phoebe Bridgers, and Deerhunter, alongside comedy sets by Dave Chappelle. Three bars, wood floors, and trap doors add to its mysterious allure, drawing goth-friendly crowds into a transportive realm. What sets Lodge Room apart is its seamless fusion of history and modernity: a nationally registered landmark with friezes of Masonic symbols outside, paired with Checker Hall's acclaimed dining below for pre-show meals. The 4,000-square-foot hall supports standing room for 450+ or seated events for 250, fostering an immersive vibe where artists and audiences connect deeply amid preserved anaglypta walls and sphinx motifs. In Northeast LA's creative hub, it stands as a beacon for boundary-pushing music and events.
